First Day of Kindergarten

The first day went GREAT! What a fun group of kids! We spent the morning by unpacking our supplies and getting settled in. Then they were already off to music, and they told me, "It was so fun!" In our classroom we worked on rhyming and read stories about Chester the raccoon. We also did an art project with Chester, which I know some of you read about in the letter from your child. I hope you enjoyed the letter! There were a few children who did not have towels for rest time. Please send a towel with your child if you have not. I am looking forward to the rest of the week! I am so glad to have your children in my class!

A Poem

(This one is for the moms!)

First Day of Kindergarten

Everyone has a first day
When they feel sad and all alone
It can be scary
When you're out on your own
And I know that a first day
Can be full of doubts and fears
But they are full of new beginnings
Take my hankie, dry your tears

You'll find lots of things to do
You'll probably make new friends
I promise we'll be together
When the school day ends

Here comes the teacher
Blow your nose and be brave
Come on wipe your eyes
This is no way to behave

Well, Good Morning, Teacher
We really do beg your pardon
No, Mommy doesn't always act this way
But it's my first day of Kindergarten!

Welcome!

Welcome to our blog! To start I'd like to introduce myself. I am Krista Readel, the kindergarten teacher at Pingree-Buchanan Elementary School. I graduated from North Dakota State University last May with a degree in Human Development and Family Science as well as an Elementary Education degree via Valley City State University. I am originally from Buchanan and graduated from Pingree-Buchanan High School in 2009.

I am so excited to be teaching kindergarten and can't wait to get started! I am looking forward to getting to know the children and helping them learn and grow. Feel free to stop by the classroom to meet me. (I am hoping to meet quite a few parents on the first day!) On this blog I will keep you updated with pictures and posts of what is happening in kindergarten. I will be sending letters home with students of important information, what you will find on here is just a bonus. At the top of the page you will find different tabs. If you click on "Miss Readel" you will find my contact information. There is also a "Wish List" tab where I may post items we would like in our classroom. Please explore and let me know how you like the blog or any problems you may have with it. This is my first time blogging so your feedback is appreciated!

I am looking forward to a great year!
