The Behavior Chart
The Behavior Chart has each child’s name on a clothespin. The chart is
color coded green, yellow, and red. Each
color represents a type of behavior.
Green - Great Day! Each child will begin
the day on green. If they follow all rules and
expectations there name will stay on green throughout the whole day.
Yellow – Think About It. Caution! Be aware
of your behavior, it is not your best. Students are given a warning.
Red – Uh-Oh. Your negative/disruptive
behavior must STOP. Students will miss their
recess/playtime as their punishment.
The Behavior Reward
System
It is important that good behavior is
rewarded. That is why we have a behavior reward system in kindergarten. Your
child has a sticker chart in their kindergarten folder that I sent home with
them the first day. This folder is to be brought back daily. The pocket with
the smiley face is work that your child has done. Letters and notes from the
teacher or school will be put in the star pocket. You can also send letters to
me in this pocket. You will find the sticker chart taped to this side of the
folder. Your child will receive a sticker if they finish the day with their
clothespin on green or yellow. If they finish the day on red, they will not
receive a sticker and I will mark the box with an X. When the child has filled
up the chart they will be able to pick out a “Good Behavior Coupon”. These
coupons will be redeemed on a set date; I will notify you when that time comes.
This celebration day will only occur once per sticker chart. I will allow the
students two X’s on their first sticker chart to begin with, if they have more
than two they will not receive a Good Behavior Coupon.
Here are some of the coupons your child may
choose:
Swip Swap – switch desks with a
classmate for the day!
Cool Cat in the Hat – Wear your
favorite hat in the classroom!
Fluffy Friend – Bring a stuffed
animal to school!
Stinky Feet – Wear no shoes in the
classroom!
Still Sleepy? – Wear your pj’s to
school!
